new inspiration - pinterest

Image
Oooh I am so excited as I have recently found pinterest which is a sort of online pin-board space: ' Think of Pinterest as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can create collections of things you love and "follow" collections created by people with great taste.' Oodles of inspiration, all beautifully curated by other people. All these images are from the pin-board of Linda Yoon and have now been added to my ' for the home ' pin-board, you can re pin and re pin and collect all the images you like in one space - amazing! Have a good look, I am looking for ideas for my new home, I can't wait to be able to hang pictures where I want to in my own space.

Super duper excited about Finders Keepers Market at shed 4 Docklands in Melbourne this weekend! This is the second Melbourne event, it was awesome last time so I am sure it will be just as fantastic the second time round. 'The Autumn/Winter 2011 Melbourne markets will be held on the 26th & 27th March 2011. The markets will be held at Shed4 a massive warehouse space in Docklands. The markets brings together new emerging and contemporary independent artists and designers of original and high creative standards from both Melbourne and all around Australia. This market we will have an array of new designers & artists stalls as well as a fresh new music line up and heaps more features to be announced!' Here are some shots from the last Melbourne event, images from FK face book page and a few shots of the Sweet William stall. Come over and say hello, I do love a natter.

Detail of the engraving on my amazing find I had the most amazing find on the weekend. I was having a good scratch around Coburg trash and treasure market early on Sunday morning with a couple of girl friends, when I pile of old silverware caught my eye as well as some beautiful old trophies (which I am constantly on the look out for) and excitedly grabbed the one closest to me - imagine my surprise when I read the following engraving: Metropolitan Women's Basketball Association Season 1950 Undefeated Premiers Won by P. Mills That's me - Paula Mills! So this lovely bargain literally had my name on it. I have tried to take a close up shot of the engraving but it was quite tricky. So in celebration of my win here are a few other inspiring images of trophies as well as my fabulous find from the trash and treasure market: Paris Hotel Flickr Stream ; s habby scraps photography; sterling silver necklace ; letter press card ; upcycled 1898 dictionary printed vintage trophy Everyone&

inspiration to clean!

Image
Flowers at home on my window sill and in the kitchen Massive inspiration from Scarlet Jones on Auburn Road, Hawthorn More inspirational flowers around my home from Bloomsville on Doncaster Rd Phew I have had a crazy few days - since my last post I have had to clean and scrub the house (not my favorite pass time) to make it look pretty (which I did with help from lovely flowers picked up at my local florist - Bloomsville ), as I had an art director pop in to see if my humble home could be used in a shoot (apparently they like it!). For some more inspiration I popped into one of my favorite shops in Melbourne - Scarlet Jones , (Auburn Road Hawthorn) and had a good look around, I have my eye on some curtains for the new home. My little Liberty has been ill again so work has been put on hold but I have had to carry on with the cleaning, getting ready for house guests (my in laws) that arrive next week, guests for dinner and the landlord who are all going to be popping in - as I said- phew

Sweet William in Lalaland

Image
I am overjoyed to report that Sweet William is being represented by a very exciting, creative company called LALALAND , a publishing house that supports Australian and international artists and illustrators. They are producing some posters, wrapping paper (looks amazing) and cards for us and will be distributing them through out Australia (whoopee so exciting!!) and of course any one can purchase from their online shop world wide. I am personally very flatered to be amongst the other hugely, super, talented artists on their site. Here are images of some of their work: Away we go by Sarajo Frieden ; Celene by art and ghosts ; little fox boy by Kareena Zerefos ; Lucy by Nathaniel Eckstrom ; polar bear by Dan May . You can also check out lalaland on Facebook here .

Lovely Shanna Murray and some most exciting news!

For those of you who have been following the blog for a little while now may know that I have moved house a lot - umm I think something like 12 moves in 13 years of marriage! Well I am moving again but this time we have bought a house - YAY! No more renting! Wahoooo! We have bought a home set in the bush in Warrandyte, just outside Melbourne, with quite a bit of ground, a reserve behind us, the primary school a few minutes walk away, and a studio! I couldn't ask for more. To celebrate my exciting news I bought some thing lovely for my new home - these pretty decals from a very clever and super talented lady called Shanna Murray . You can visit her shop here and her blog here . Aren't they just beautiful? We will only be moving in a few months time but I am already dreaming about being able to put pictures on the walls, where I want them, in my own home. I am feeling happy. Happy Friday to you all! P xx

Market Cancelled : (

Unfortunately the hide and seek market I blogged about yesterday has been cancelled this Sunday - but do keep checking their website to see when they will have another one in Melbourne.

Sweet William at Hide and Seek Market this weekend

Image
I am really looking forward to the next creative market I am doing on Sunday the 13th of March, in Melbourne city: ' Hide & Seek market is a hidden treasure in the “hills”, with a love of all things handmade. Hide & Seek market is a collection of young and independent designers, a place to find quirky, unique handcrafted goodies, grab a coffee and be inspired by the handmade community. You’ll find dreamy, vintage inspired wares - baby & kids goods, eclectic jewellery, accessories and more! All will appeal to the crafty folk!' I am sure it will be full of creative new finds and inspirational things to look at. Pop in and say hello if you are in the city over the long weekend. Here are some images from the launch of the Melbourne Market last weekend. You can see more about the images and the markets, on their facebook page here . We heart craft markets!

Bliss

I had a little quite time to myself as I received a parcel in the post from the UK today - the brand new Oh Comely magazine. I poured myself a cup of tea, helped myself to a slice of lemon tart and sat down to pour over the brand new ink scented pages. I still do love print even in this online saturated world. This is a fairly new mag: ' oh comely is a magazine about people and their quirks and their creativity, rather than money and what it can buy. It's a magazine that inspires people to be creative, talk to their neighbours and explore new things, rather than buy stuff or lose weight.' It's a great mag - piles of inspiration, a good read but most importantly it was a little slice of blissful peace and quite for me today : )
