The Whispering Angel - new work.

Image
At last I have had a chance to work in my studio and have just completed this painting of the Whispering Angel - who watches over us as we rest and whispers messages of love to replenish our souls while we sleep. I think this would be lovely above a baby's crib or in a child's bedroom. The print of this painting is available in our etsy shop here . I did this as a complete painting in acrylic and ink onto a canvas board and thoroughly enjoyed loosing myself for hours doing those tiny little patterns.

Geometrics and pastels

The song bird print is available here We are in the middle of winter here in Melbourne and we have all been sick with colds and the flu, yuk. I was in need of some perking up so I decided to rearrange my lounge room - as you do. I am loving all the fresh pastels colours and flat geometric patterns around at the moment and so I decided to have a go myself. I swooped all the old silver and dark wood off the mantle piece and replaced it with  large and small geometric paintings, a few graphic prints and some simple shapes and colours. I bought in my pink corduroy couch to match with the pink in the painting and voila a fresh new look in my lounge - yay! As they say a change is as good as a holiday, but I could do with one of those too...

Illustration work

As well as creating new work for  Sweet William I do a fair bit of freelance illustration. Here are some commissions and editorial jobs I have been working on recently. My full portfolio of work can be viewed through my web site  - www.paulamillsillustration.com  and on flickr ...hmmm, while I do enjoy the challenge of an illustration brief, I really want to work on some new illustrations for Sweet William...I just need to find some more time, hopefully I will find it soon.

My next group exhibition

I am very excited to have a piece of my work included in the following exhibition: Just Another and Signed & Numbered are proud to present their new creative joint venture, the Signed & Numbered / Just Another Project Space.  Conveniently located at 153 Greville St, Prahran this new space is bound to be one of the new creative hot spots of the area. The 3-roomed building will be divided into sections, featuring Signed & Numbered in the shop front with the Just Another Project Space taking over the remaining second and third rooms. This is a concept space that will challenge your perception of how an art gallery can feel and how art can be displayed. Signed & Numbered’s unique way of displaying prints, as well as providing detailed information on each of its artists, sets it apart from the norm. The opening of the Project Space allows them to continue to push the boundaries of art while giving Signed & Numbered and Just Another Artists an outlet to showcase t
