Original Works on Paper now available

Image
I am very pleased to announce that my original work on paper is being offered for sale for the very first time over in our etsy shop - here . I am moving home in a few months time which has led me to sorting out my studio and I thought it would be a good time to sell some of my original works on paper that I tend to hang onto and feel quite attached to. Each piece is a one of a kind, painted either on watercolor or canvas paper, predominantly in watercolor, ink and acrylic paint, which will be signed and dated by the artist - me, Paula Mills!  Please check each listing for sizes and price. I will keep adding to this section as I continue to sort out my studio and make room for lots of new work!

Keep on learning

My still life  acrylic paint  exercise in tone and self portrait painted in oils Studio in Fitzroy showing the work of Adriane Strampp My Morandi inspired still life Self portrait working from a reference by Anne-Sophie Tschiegg Adriane's work bench in the Fitzroy Studio Detail of my self portrait in acrylic paint. Beautiful Fitzroy Studio Although I am fairly comfortable with a pen or pencil in my hand, I get a little scared and a little nervous when I hold a paint brush.  I did my training in a commercial art environment, I studied graphic design many moons ago and later on trained in illustration and drawing.  I have pretty much taught myself any skills I have picked up, when it comes to the fine arts. With all that in mind I decided to have a go at learning a little more about painting. Once a week I have been going to a painting course in Fitzroy through www.fitzroypainting.com  run by Adriane Stramp . The environment is wonderful - a big, bea

We are on the move

Photo –  Eve Wilson , production – Lucy Feagins / The Design Files.   We have been very fortunate to have had our lovely Warrandyte home featured in the media through magazines, newspapers and on line over the past 4 and a half years. Some of the highlights so far have been The Design Files , Country Style Magazine , The Age and The Herald Sun . I am very grateful that our Warrandyte home has been documented in this way as we will be moving on and leaving it soon. I have mixed feelings about this; excitement as Pete, the kids and I face our next big adventure of moving into Melbourne city for a more urban lifestyle and sadness as we leave behind our much loved Warrandyte cottage, local friends, community and amazing natural beauty. This cottage has served us well and I am sure the next family who is fortunate enough to dwell here will love it just as much as we have. Our home has been listed with Fletchers if anyone is thinking of living in this beautiful part of the

My trip to Ireland to visit my brother and family

Image
My brother, Myles, is a wonderful chef. He is married to a lovely Irish girl called Jane. They own and run a very successful cafe in StrandHill called Shells Cafe , they have won many awards, they have also published two cook books  and successfully renovated a beautiful cottage. Their latest and most admirable accomplishment has been the addition of Arlo, their first child and my gorgeous nephew! Of course I traveled from Australia to Ireland to meet him. I love this quote by Anthony Brandt: 'Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.' Myles and myself with little Arlo in his baby sling, taking selfies Beautiful collections in my brother's home Their very clever cottage renovation Myles and Jane  The beautiful view from their living room Little baby Arlo! Water Colour Workshop Wrap Up

Me sharing some skills. Photo's by Aim Aris Magdalena Franco  from Unleash Creative Photo by Jody of @lemonrhodes on instagram Amazing cakes and treats from In A World Of Cake . I stepped out of my comfort zone over the weekend, did some teaching and loved it! The Paperlicious workshop hosted by Unleash Creative was a very successful event. The venue was All Press Studio , a beautiful open, loft style space in Colingwood, Melbourne. The most amazing cakes and treats were available for us to enjoy from In A World of Cake - there was even edible paper! The highlight for me was being able to share what I have learnt about watercolours and drawing, encouraging people to let go and enjoy the creative process - the results were wonderful! The lovely photos posted here were all taken by Aim Aris unless otherwise stated. The workshop was featured on lenzo.com.au too where you can find out more about the colourful whole day.
